Through fluid paintings I express personal experiences based on places, cultures, history, legends, mythologies and ancestral symbols. The concepts I depict represent our vulnerability and transcendental role in the world.
My work is a reflection of my indigenous ancestry in fusion with my Spanish background. I fuse classical concepts as well as traditional techniques using undefined figures that are inspired from nature as well as Mayan and Aztecs iconography. My work evokes nostalgia of time and mystery in the figures that are part of the subconscious world. My intention is to invite the viewer to analyze the work closer. The media I use allows me to express through organic shapes that looks like are accidentally created. I incorporate traditional techniques learned from Mexico in conjunction with knowledge obtained from contemporary artists. My intention is to show my bi-cultural amalgamation (immigrant Mexican). This also brings a recognizable aesthetic in my work, a mix of folklore and organic abstraction.
